What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is the structured use of music to assist people of all ages in times of need. In my therapeutic approach, treatment combines the emotional experience of music with verbal insight therapy to most effectively bridge our conscious awareness to that which is hidden outside of immediate understanding. The degree of each (music and words) is dependent upon your needs and preferences. Music, along with the therapeutic relationship, can provide a vehicle to understand more about our ourselves, our lives, and our relationships with other people, and can be a vehicle for deep levels of authentic self-expression. As said by Hans Christian Anderson: When words fail, music speaks. Music therapy is available from Creative Harmonies in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas including Collingswood, NJ.

What Can I Expect in Music Therapy?
First and foremost, you do not need to have a musical background to benefit from music therapy (although musicians are certainly welcome and can benefit as well!). You may experience various forms of interventions including songwriting, song analysis, improvisation and singing (among others).
